Controversial Australian politician Pauline Hanson has thrown her support behind rugby’s Whiter Player Policy.
Hanson is famous for her extreme right-wing policy statements and believes the policy protects Caucasian rugby league and union players at a time when their very existence is under threat.
The Whiter Player Policy forces professional and representative teams in rugby league and rugby union to recruit a quota of ‘white’ players into their team, or face substantial fines or even the loss of premiership points. It aims to prevent the complete domination of the two codes by players of Pasifika heritage.
“The Whiter Player Policy will ensure that ‘white’ players, who are currently underrepresented in the sports’ top tier, have an opportunity to excel in their chosen sport. Deliberately forcing ‘white’ players to be chosen now, will see them gain selection in their own right in the years to come,” read a joint statement from both codes.
“Before the beginning of the season, each team will be required to demonstrate that their playing squad comprises a minimum number of ‘white’ players. Each player’s lineage and family heritage will be thoroughly examined by professional historians, and this evidence will be used to judge compliance among every team.”
Hanson admitted that the policy is similar to affirmative action in the modern workplace, and conceded that the sports’ administrators had caved in to political correctness and the woke agenda, which she would not normally support.
“However, this time it protects white Australians and we need a monoculture in this country, on the rugby field and off it. The Whiter Player Policy, and the White Australia Policy, stop this country and our favourite sports from being swamped by foreigners.”
Pasifika footballers with Maori, Samoan, Tongan, PNG and Fijian heritage currently comprise more than 50% of contracted players in the NRL. Furthermore, the PNG Chiefs are scheduled to enter the NRL in 2028, and every elite rugby union team is made up of a large number of Pasifika players.
“It’s not just Pasifika players we have to be careful of,” warned Hanson.
“There are also a lot of Aboriginal players in the NRL and even some Lebanese players are getting into our teams. By supporting this policy, I want to remind every rugby player that it’s ok to be white.”
Fans of both codes are furious, and have taken to social media to express their anger at the new policy.

“Choose players on merit not skin colour”
“Keep your hands off sport. Politics and sport don’t mix”
“Put the best players on the field, not the whitest ones – I don’t wanna watch reserve grade!”
“If you’re not good enough, bad luck”
Hanson took to social media to urge her supporters to back the policy because it protects ‘their people’.
“Without the Whiter Player Policy, rugby codes in Australia will die,” she claimed, ignoring the fact that her own immigration stance would kill rugby league and rugby union in Australia.
Meanwhile, administrators explained that the policy was aimed at keeping ‘white’ players in the game from junior level to representative teams, quoting a popular adage:
“You can’t be what you can’t see.”
“We want to keep young white kids playing our sports and for that reason we believe it is vital to provide them with role models they can look up to and emulate.”
“Without such a policy, both codes could see teams (including Australia’s national teams) made up entirely of Pasifika players in the near future.”
