Wayne Carey launches new podcast with AFL star.

Wayne Carey has joined forces with Lachie Neale to offer advice to men about football and healthy relationships on a podcast called Cheetahs.

Carey has built a loyal following on the podcast known as The Truth Hurts, but decided it was time for something more.

“I’ve always liked new things,” he explained.

“Sometimes having the same thing all the time gets a bit old, a bit boring, and you just need a taste of something different. I’ve taken this approach in other areas of my life, and I thought the approach would work for my podcast. Lachie feels the same way so he was the perfect co-host.”

Carey also revealed that Neale was involved in the rebrand.

“We couldn’t decide between Lions and Kangaroos, so went for a neutral animal. Lachie and I love cheetahs. They’re fast, and when you’re fast enough you can get away from anything. In footy, if you’re good enough you can get away with anything, so it’s the perfect name for our show.”

Carey sat down with Neale to recount great moments on the field, in the locker rooms and the bedroom, and was pleased with the outcome.

“We talk about loyalty in the first episode, you know, like how you have to be loyal to the most important people in your life – your mates and your footy team. You’ll have to tune in to hear all of it, but Lachie’s a great bloke,” Carey said.

“Turns out we have a lot in common. We both like shiny new things and think that variety is the spice of life. We talked a lot about side dishes, change, trying new things and looking for new ways to make yourself happy.”

Carey and Neale are also both Frownlow nominees. Carey was inducted into the hall of fame in 2015, while Neale was nominated for the medal in 2026 after it was revealed that he cheated on his wife with one of her friends. With that in mind, both players made sure to leave their current partners at home while recording the episode.

Carey later conceded that he will still have time to host his original podcast.

“I like the old name, The Truth Hurts, because it reminds everyone that cheating on and hitting women also hurts.
