More revelations about Nathan Daly.

Former NRL player Nathan Daly is still trying to clear his name after being nominated for The Frownlow Medal Hall of Fame.

Daly was nominated in 2022 for his involvement in numerous off-field scandals since finishing his football career, and recently contacted The Frownlow Medal personally in an attempt to protect his reputation.

The Frownlow Medal is awarded to the player whose off-field demeanour epitomises the values of the modern-day footballer and draws attention to the status of footballers as role models to young Australians. It covers Australia’s four major football codes: the men’s and women’s National Rugby League (NRL), Australian Football League (AFL), the A-League (Football) and Rugby Union’s Super Rugby competition. NRL player Shaun Kenny-Dowall won the inaugural medal in 2015, while NRL star Ezra Mam is the most recent recipient.

The Frownlow Medal Hall of Fame honours former players and players who received media attention in previous seasons, for similarly scandalous behaviour, and its inductees include Ben Cousins and Julian O’Neill.

The former Broncos player was informed of his nomination by a colleague and emailed the Frownlow team in early 2025 asking for a post to be removed because he is now a respectable family man and has established a post-football career.

He admitted to being charged with public nuisance outside a casino, which earned him his first hall of fame nomination, but denied appearing on Ex on the Beach and also refuted the claims made against him on a website called thedirty.com.

He outlined his version of events in the email below:

I was never approached for ex on the beach or anything like that. I’m pretty quiet and private.

Also, the references to the comments that were on ‘thedirty’ website. The person(s) involved in the online attack were investigated and charged by police for stalking, blackmail amongst other charges (some related to me but other players from other teams). I have to be careful how much I say here but that particular time was pretty scary for me and my family. I’d really appreciate it if you could remove that particular post.

The other one is fine, I’ll cop that on the chin.

Thanks mate, appreciate your help!

Nathan

Daly is right.

He does have to be careful what he says, because if he upsets the Frownlow judges, he won’t be invited to the awards night for the medal and the hall of fame later this year, and that is a party full of disgraced footballers where anything goes.
