Are there drugs in Holland?

There are plenty of drugs in Holland but are there any in Elijah Hollands of the Carlton Blues?

Whether or not the AFL player was in possession of illicit drugs will determine his chances of winning The Frownlow Medal this year.

The Frownlow Medal is awarded to the player whose off-field demeanour epitomises the values of the modern-day footballer and draws attention to the status of footballers as role models to young Australians. It covers Australia’s four major football codes; the National Rugby League (NRL), Australian Football League (AFL), the A-League (Football) and Rugby Union’s Super Rugby competition. NRL player Shaun Kenny-Dowall won the inaugural medal in 2015, while NRL star Manase Fainu is the most recent recipient.

Hollands was recently accused of possessing illicit drugs just moments after being traded from the Gold Coast Suns to Carlton, and now must wait for the court’s decision to find out when he will play his first game for the Blues.

Carlton apparently knew about the charges before deciding to recruit him, obviously hoping to increase the club’s chances of winning the Frownlow, something they have never achieved. Another Elijah has won it, but Taylor played for the Swans, and the medal continues to be dominated by NRL players.

“He’s only been charged with possessing a small amount of drugs, declared a statement from the Blues, “but at this point anything is better than nothing. At least he can help the boys relax after a hard game next season, and he’ll be great for Mad Monday.”
