NRL player Api Koroisau has added the Husband of the Year title to his State of Origin win and his nomination for The Frownlow Medal after being caught sneaking a woman into the NSW camp.
The devoted husband has been fined $35,000 and suspended for two games after breaching COVID-19 protocols to sneak a random woman into the NSW camp during the State of Origin series on two occasions. NSW beat Queensland 2 -1, and Koriosau beat Jai Arrow 2-1.
The Frownlow Medal is awarded to the player whose off-field demeanour epitomises the values of the modern-day footballer and draws attention to the status of footballers as role models to young Australians. It covers Australia’s four major football codes; the National Rugby League (NRL), Australian Football League (AFL), the A-League (Football) and Rugby Union’s Super Rugby competition. NRL player Shaun Kenny-Dowall won the inaugural medal in 2015, while AFL player Elijah Taylor is the most recent recipient.
Koroisau apparently met the woman via instagram and had been in contact with her during June. He then snuck her into the NSW Blues camp twice and breached biosecurity protocols. He thus cheated on his wife and created a scandal that could still shut down the entire NRL, which has been relocated to Queensland to escape the COVID lockdowns in other parts of Australia.
“I love my wife with all my heart and soul,” Koroisau said after being informed of his win.
“I’m so proud to win Husband of the Year and to be such a great role model to all young men in Australia.”
“I couldn’t stand being without Amy for so long in the Origin bubble so I invited another woman into the hotel tp replace her. I mean, one woman is the same as any other when it all comes down to it doesn’t it! Plus. they’ve got the same coloured hair so it’s basically the same person.”
Koroisua is highly skilled in the art of trespassing. He earned his first Frownlow nomination in 2018 after he was caught illegally entering a property in Bondi.
News reports also indicated that the instagram woman actually contacted Koroisau’s wife after the rendezvous. It is believed she asked Amy how Api takes his eggs.
The Panthers hooker and Fiji international also told the media that he is “…determined to become a better partner, father and protector…” But how can he get any better than Husband of the Year, Frownlow nominee and Origin winner?
