Parramatta NRL star Semi Radradra has been nominated for The Frownlow Medal after being charged by police with domestic violence offences against a former partner.
The rampaging winger is alleged to have abused his former partner on multiple occasions from 2014 – 2015 and has had an apprehended violence order served against him.
The Frownlow Medal is awarded to the player whose off-field demeanour epitomises the values of the modern day footballer and draws attention to the status of footballers as role models to young Australians. It covers Australia’s four major football codes; the National Rugby League (NRL), Australian Football League (AFL), the A-League (Football) and Rugby Union’s Super Rugby competition. The first medal was awarded to Sydney Roosters and New Zealand representative Shaun Kenny-Dowall in 2015.
Before and after court appearances connected to the domestic violence charges, Radradra also failed to report to various club commitments after the Eels had given him time off to return to his homeland of Fiji.
Radradra will learn his Frownlow fate in October this year.
